Junior wildlife biology and environmental biology major Erika Schwoyer completed an internship with the Wildlands Conservancy, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to important scientific research.
Erika鈥檚 internship focused on collecting bird-species data at the Conservancy鈥檚 Pocono-based Thomas Darling Preserve. The information she gathered will help direct the organization鈥檚 stewardship practices. Erika鈥檚 data revealed the number of bird species in the area increased from 30 to 50, affirming the Conservancy鈥檚 stewardship management practices.
During the spring semester, Erika plans to study abroad in Tanzania. Following her graduation, her goal is to earn a doctorate and become a research scientist, focusing on conservation biology.
